Our essence
Filstone’s story begins in the workshop of Francisco dos Santos, a master mason whose standards shaped how we work. In the Estremenho Limestone Massif, from Ota to Fátima, the craft evolved from small quarry faces to the first orders, always with rigour.
The entrepreneurial turn came with Daniel Filipe and the “Rafaéis”, consolidating regional operations. In 1987, Alfredo Filipe founded Filipedra, opening new applications for Portuguese limestone; in 1998, entry into China demanded capacity and predictability. In 2002 Filstone was created by three generations to bring together kindred quarries and ensure continuity of supply without losing the mason’s ethic. The Kingstar partnership (2006) accelerated modernisation and, in 2008, Casal Farto became headquarters and logistics hub.
In 2021, the Filstone Center Yunfu strengthened proximity to specifiers in China, and the Alpalhão (Nisa) quarry extended our activity to SPI granite.
